Heart Prep for Sunday, November 12th

This Sunday, we’re going to start the Book of Titus.  Titus comes right after 2nd Timothy in the New Testament, but in terms of when it was written, it falls in between 1st and 2nd Timothy.  Titus appears to be an older version of Timothy; in that he was a more experienced pastor and teacher whom Paul leaves with a new church on the island of Crete.

This new church was in a land well-known for being notoriously sinful.  And so Titus is left to minister to a church in the context of a society that was saturated with immorality.  Sound familiar?  Paul's words to Titus are timely for us because of the corresponding circumstances that we face in a modern culture rampant with immorality.

And into this difficult situation, Paul reminds Titus of the value of truth.  He is to know the truth, teach the truth, and defend the truth against (just as in Timothy) a vocal group of false teachers.  Hence, I’ve entitled this short three-week series, “Truth Matters.”  So come to hear why truth matters, how truth matters, and what difference it makes for us to be people of the truth today.  Should be interesting, see you then, Dr. Dave

P.S. – Don’t forget that John & Rachel Clifford will be joining us during Sunday School to share how God is calling them to serve with MTW in Rwanda.
