This Sunday's Worship Materials can be found in the "Featured Sermon" below. We meet in person at Harper Park Middle School, and the service is also livestreamed on our YouTube channel.

Heart Prep for Sunday, May 3

This week, we’ve come to a hard part of The Gospel of Mark.  And that’s Mark 10:1-12 which is on the subject of Jesus and divorce.  And that’s a challenge, because we have a number of folks in our church who have been divorced and possibly remarried.  However, Jesus has some hard words to say here.  And because I preach right through books, and don’t skip any passages (even when I want to), we’re going to take on this challenge.

So, we’re going to take it on, not just because it’s the next passage in line, but because it’s an important and relevant subject for all of us to consider.  It isn’t necessary for me to cite statistics about how common divorce has become in our society and how devastating it can be to individual lives.  We’re all aware of that, and many of our own families have been touched by it.

And as we come to this text, please note that there are three key questions asked, and those questions will guide how we study the text.  Furthermore, there’s some implied questions that most readers of this text have Do you believe that God is sovereign over your marriage (or your future marriage)?  Do you believe that God’s grace is enough to cover the pain of your (or your friends, or your parents) divorce?  And do you believe that you (or him, or her, or they) deserve that grace?  So, those are the kind of questions we’ll be taking on this Sunday.

Once again, I’ll be coming to you via video on YouTube.  On Saturday we’ll post all the links and everything you need to worship on Sunday at our website – www.potomachills.org – just click on the “latest sermon” link.  I hope the music and sermons on video have both been a blessing to you.  Even though we’re online, it’s still going to be a great day to worship the risen Christ.  So, let’s do it together, even while apart.  Dr. Dave
