Heart Prep for Sunday, January 23rd
Well, this week we’ve come to one of the least known and most important chapters of the Old Testament. We’ll be looking at Deuteronomy 4:1-43.
It may be the least known because it has nothing new in it, and yet it’s the most important because Moses is reminding the people of what they need to know … just prior to giving them the Ten Commandments again.
So what would they (and us) need to know … before we get the Law of God? Well, Moses wants them to know …
- What is the truth?
- Who is the truth? And …
- Why should we obey the truth?
Moses is going to ground them in three great doctrines that all believers should know and trust if they’re going to live a life that honors God …
- The Doctrine of the Word of God answers the What is the Truth question.
- The Doctrine of God answers the Who is the Truth question. And …
- The Doctrine of the Christian Life answers the Why should we obey the Truth question.
We’re also going to touch on the topics of preaching, idolatry, and covenant theology. I know it all sounds a little heavy, but I’ll do my best to make it both interesting and practical. All of this should help us in our pursuit of “Knowing God” in 2022. I’m looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, Dr. Dave
