Heart Prep for Sunday, November 26th

It’s the Thanksgiving holiday, and I can’t help but be thankful for Potomac Hills Presbyterian Church.  I am so grateful for all of you.  Your care and ministry to my family over the years has been amazing.  You’ve showed us grace and love, even when we didn’t deserve it.  You’ve forgiven us of our sins against you, and you’ve pointed us to Jesus over and over again.  Thank you for being a good church to us.

As we come to Titus 3 this week, we’re preparing to wrap up our series in the pastoral epistles.  I encourage you to go back and read 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus.  They’re not that long, and you might have a few more minutes of free time on your hands this week.  I encourage you to meditate on all the great truths that we’ve looked at over the past 3 months, how we keep coming back to Jesus and the Gospel again and again.  I think that will be a great way to prepare us for the start of Advent in December.  And speaking of Advent, we’ll be kicking off a year walking with Jesus chronologically through His life from the 4 Gospels.

Specifically to prepare us for Titus 3 and this coming Sunday, I’d like you to think about the exhortations to changed behavior that you find in Titus 3.  What’s your initial reaction to these calls to changed behavior?  I think that our initial reactions, if you’re anything like me, speak volumes about the centrality of the Gospel in our lives.  And that’s exactly what Paul is getting at in Titus 3.  Everything flows out of our Gospel identity.  And so come Sunday looking to examine our hearts for foundational Gospel commitments.  Happy Thanksgiving and see you Sunday!
