Heart Prep for Sunday, December 26th
Hopefully this finds you prepared for the holidays! As you might have seen on the Facebook group, a number of families in the church are dealing with COVID right now. Please be praying for them, not only for physical healing, but also for comfort for the disappointment of potentially missing out on family gatherings. But if you’re healthy and able, we hope to see you at both the Christmas Eve service at 5pm and the Sunday worship service at 10:30am on Sunday. Remember, Sunday School and Children’s Church have been cancelled for this Sunday.
As we prepare for Sunday’s worship, I encourage you to spend some time meditating on Luke 2:41-52, our passage this Sunday. It’s a picture of Jesus at the Passover feast in Jerusalem. And while there are a number of interesting tidbits, we’re going to focus on the significance of the Passover. It’s not hard to draw the connection that Jesus is the greater Passover Lamb, but what does that really mean? Where does the substitutionary atonement imaged in the Passover feast point us? And then ultimately, what’s the significance of Jesus’s explanation that He must be in His Father’s house? These are big questions, and hopefully we will discover the answers together, pointing to the intimacy and access that we have to the Father in Christ Jesus. Merry Christmas, and hopefully we’ll see you on Friday and Sunday!
