Can you believe that Christmas is only a week away? Of course, in the Rubino house, another Christmas means celebrating a family birthday, as our precious Mercy turns two years old in a couple of days. But I better not get started gushing about one of my girls… We have the birth of another little baby we need to talk about!
We’re looking at Luke 1:26-38 this week, as we continue to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As we ponder that Jesus is Immanuel, which means “God With Us,” it would be easy just to focus on his divinity – That the God of the universe put on a body of flesh and dwelt among us. But we must not forget how important it is that Jesus was also a human being. Along with his divinity, Jesus’ humanity was also indispensable to his mission as Messiah and Savior.
So why was it necessary for Jesus to be human? Why did he have to be born of a virgin? Does it all really matter? Come join us Sunday morning, as we look to God’s Word and talk about these things together.
In the Lamb – Pastor Tom
