The Kingdom Prophecy (Matthew 17:9-13, 22-23)
Series: The King and His Kingdom! - A Series in the Book of Matthew Topic: Sermons Passage: Matthew 17:9–17:13
So, have you warmed up yet? I know some of you love the snow and cold, but there are some of us who are less enthusiastic about "winter weather." I hope you're "weathering" the cold okay -- if you do have any needs related to the extreme cold, please contact our Deacons for assistance. Also, it would probably be a good idea to join us for our first Fellowship Lunch of the New Year this Sunday. The food is warm and it's a great time to get to know some new folks in the church.
Let me ask you a question? How would your life change if you knew when and how you were going to die? Most of us probably don't want to know, and most likely, have no idea how and if we would live any differently. But that's the backdrop for this week's passage, Matthew 17:9-13, 22-23. In this passage, Jesus lets the disciples know that just as John the Baptist suffered and died, so will He, and eventually, so will they. Understandably they're distressed at the news. But what difference does it make? How does knowing this change your life?
And that's what we'll be talking about this Sunday. Should be interesting! I look forward to seeing you there! Dr. Dave
