The King of Kings, Revelation 19:11-21
Series: The King’s Triumphant Return - A Series in Revelation Topic: 1 Passage: Revelation 19:11–19:21
This Father's Day, Pastor Dave finishes Revelation 19, which includes the famous passage about the Return of the King. Dr. Dave Dorst Sr. writes about this, "Here the rider is expressly identified as Jesus Christ. Almost all of the phrases that identify Him are repetitions of descriptions given earlier in the book. He is called Faithful and True (3:14); He judges with justice (16:7) and makes war (6:2); His eyes are like blazing fire (1:14); on His head are many crowns (4:10); He has a name that no one knows but He Himself (3:12); He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood (1:13, 19:2, Isaiah 63:1-3); His name is the Word of God (1:2); out of His mouth comes a sharp sword (1:16); He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty (14:19, 20); He has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS (17:14). It seems apparent that John is summarizing all that has been written about Jesus Christ as history culminates in His judgment." Seeing Jesus as the divine Warrior-King is a great Father's Day present.
