Heart Prep for the Second Sunday in Advent
For the rest of Advent, we’re looking at Colossians One. I urge you to read the chapter all the way through each week, and not just the passage that’s coming up, but the whole chapter, and that way we’ll all really learn it this month, because there’s no higher picture of Christ than in Colossians One.
Last week, we looked at “Jesus, Our Gospel.” And so this week, we’ll be looking at “Jesus, Our King.” But we won’t just be looking at Jesus, because our text for this week is Colossians 1:9-14 and it includes the command “to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him.” Well, what does it mean to “walk worthy” and can any of us actually do it?
And the answer is both yes and no. We can’t, and won’t, walk worthy on our own. We need Jesus to do something to us first, so that we can, and will, walk worthy and please Him. So, what is Jesus do? How are we changed? And what does walking worthy actually look like? Those are the questions for this week. It should be interesting. See you then, Dr. Dave
P.S. Please don’t forget about the congregational meeting this Sunday during Sunday School. We will give our annual report, go over this year’s budget, next year’s budget, vote on the pastor’s calls, and take questions. We only do it once a year, but it is important, so please plan on being there.
