This Sunday's Worship Materials can be found in the "Featured Sermon" below. We meet in person at Harper Park Middle School, and the service is also livestreamed on our YouTube channel.

Heart Prep for Sunday, May 10th

This week, we’ve come to a short passage in The Gospel of Mark.  And that’s because, with the cancellation of our Officer’s Retreat, we also lost the Officer Retreat Speaker for Sunday, May 17th.  So, I took the passage originally intended for this Sunday and split it in two.  And that’s okay, since this passage, Mark 10:13-16, talks about children, and this Sunday is Mother’s Day.

So, first of all, be nice to your Mom this Sunday (whatever that looks like in your home).  Second, be nice to those you know for whom Mother’s Day is a hard day, whether due to unfulfilled longing or unjust treatment.  Some holidays can be a little hard to take for some in our midst, so this is a reminder to be sensitive too.

And third, while this passage “seems” to be about children, in the end, it’s really not.  It’s about how God uses children to teach us and serve as an example for us.  And that sounds somewhat backwards, doesn’t it?  After all, we’re usually trying to get children to behave like adults, but here Jesus tells the adults to model themselves after the children!  What’s going on?  And why would He say that?  Well, those are the kind of questions we’ll be taking on this Sunday.

Once again, I’ll be coming to you via video on YouTube.  On Saturday we’ll post all the links and everything you need to worship on Sunday at our website – www.potomachills.org – just click on the “latest sermon” link.  I hope you have found both the music and sermons on video an encouragement to you.  Even though we’re online, it’s still a wonderful thing to worship the risen Christ.  So, let’s worship together, and then, if you’re able, call Mom.  Dr. Dave
