This Sunday's Worship Materials can be found in the "Featured Sermon" below. We meet in person at Harper Park Middle School, and the service is also livestreamed on our YouTube channel.

Heart Prep for Sunday, March 24th

It's been a crazy week.  That usually happens when I try to do too much stuff in too little time.  It's also why this is coming to you so late.  Apologies all around.

This week we're in Jeremiah 26 and it's a different chapter than any of them we've seen so far.  Jeremiah continues to preach, he gets arrested, tried, convicted, sentenced to death, overturned on appeal, and in the end just walks away.  What is going on?  Well, there's a number of things going on behind the scenes.  One, the people who should be defending the prophet are the ones accusing him.  The people who should be prosecuting him are the ones defending him.  It's all topsy-turvy.  And in the middle of it all, Jeremiah just takes a wait-and-see attitude, and essentially says, "I know what God's doing?  I'm not sure anybody knows what you guys are doing."

So what do we learn from chapters in the Bible that are, quite frankly, weird?  Well, there's a lot we can learn about A) how to stand up to false accusations, unjust criticisms, and unfounded assumptions.  We live in a social-media world where those types of statements are being made constantly.  And 2) We can learn a lot about how to respond to these things, both verbally and in writing, with graciousness and kindness, but without compromising what we believe.  You see, how we respond reveals what's in our heart -- and sometimes that's not very pretty.

So, we're going to take a look at these things and see what God has to teach us.  And we have a baptism this Sunday with an all-time pronunciation challenge!  Should be fun.  See you there!  Dr. Dave

P.S. -  Please don't forget to keep praying for Steve and Sue Garnier as they trek north on the Appalachian Trail.  And pray for the Larson's as they move south this week.
