Heart Prep for Sunday, June 12th
We start a new summer sermon series this week regarding “First Things.” To name a few, we will have sermons on pray first, seek first, know first, understand first, recognize first, proclaim first, and who’s on first. Well, maybe not that last one.
Putting “first things first” is about setting priorities. Placing spiritual priorities ahead of the things of this world requires a heart that is oriented to and seeks first God’s kingdom.
The first sermon in the series of firsts focuses on “Ask First” or “Inquire First.” The scripture passage to illustrate this point comes to us from II Chronicles 18 and 19, a somewhat obscure but fascinating story of King Jehoshaphat and King Ahab joining together in a military coalition and realizing the need to “inquire first” to the Lord. Will they find out what God wants? Will they follow it if they do? Be the first to find out by joining us for Lord’s Day worship at PHPC this Sunday.
