This Sunday's Worship Materials can be found in the "Featured Sermon" below. We meet in person at Harper Park Middle School, and the service is also livestreamed on our YouTube channel.

Heart Prep for Sunday, July 11th

Well, since so many of you have asked about the PCA’s 48th General Assembly in St. Louis, I think it would be wise if I addressed it soon.  So I’m going to cover all the excitement this Sunday during Sunday School.  I’ll give you the scoop on GA, the BCO, the RAO, the SJC, the OC, the AC, what’s an overture?, and maybe even some RONR for good measure (Presbyterians sure love our acronyms)!

To make room for this special class, I’ll be combining two future classes on Revelation, so we finish on time.  Speaking of Sunday School, after we finish Revelation, we’ll have four weeks on the Book of Ruth (a perennial favorite) and then in September, we’ll begin a nine-month exploration of Romans.

This week, we’re continuing our sermon series on the One Another commands of the New Testament by looking at Romans 15:14-16, with special attention given to verse 14 and the phrase, “Instruct one another.”  Well, does that mean everyone has to be a teacher?  Yes, it does … and no it doesn’t.  Wasn’t that helpful?  Probably not.  You see, the key to understanding this passage is seeing the whole context of what Paul was writing about.  Paul is making the argument that since believers (both strong and weak) have the Scriptures, and since believers (both weak and strong) have the indwelling Holy Spirit, then we all have all we need to apply all of the gospel to all of our lives.  You don’t need to be a pastor to do this (and everyone said ‘Amen!’).  Being able to give God’s Truth to God’s people is the privilege of every believer.

So, I’m looking forward to “instructing” you on Sunday!  See you then, Dr. Dave

PS – A big “thanks” to Lindsay, Andrea, Frank, Jim, and the comedy team of Deb and Libby for serving us all so well at the picnic last Sunday!  Awesome job!
