Heart Prep for Sunday, January 31st
This week, we’re finishing our January sermon series — “With Confidence: Trusting God in Winter.” We’ve already looked at having confidence in God, confidence in the Bible, confidence in Christ, confidence in the Gospel, and this week we’re looking at having confidence in Hope. Now that one may sound a little funny to us because usually we use the word “Hope” with regard to something that’s uncertain. But biblically, “Hope” is usually used with regard to something that’s certain. And moving from ‘uncertain’ to ‘certain’ brings a big change in meaning.
So this week, we’ll be doing another deep dive into a few verses — 1 John 3:1-3. These verses explain why we can have confidence in Hope because it’s not based on anything in us or in our circumstance, but solely in Christ.
However, our confidence in Hope is based upon what we’ve already talked about — our confidence in God, God’s Word, God’s Son, and God’s Message. When we know those things well, then we can have confidence in what God says is certain. And what is that? Well, that’s what we’ll be learning this Sunday. Looking forward to our time together again this Sunday, Dr. Dave
P.S. – Everyone’s aware we may have some snow this Sunday. We’re putting together a Plan B if that happens and we’ll let you know if we need to make any changes. Let’s “Hope” we don’t have to!
