Wow … what a great Sunday with Paul Hahn.  He is one of the most engaging guys in the PCA.  I hope you appreciated his presentation during Sunday School and his sermon during worship as much as I did (though it was pretty convicting).  I look forward to the discussion we’ll have about it at my Community Group this week.  If you’re not in a Community Group, it’s not too late, just let me know and we’ll get you connected.

Well, this week we have another special treat as another friend of mine, the Rev. Jegar Chinnavan, will be with us.  Jegar is planting the First Asian Indian Presbyterian Church in Herndon, where a large number of Hindu, Indian, and South Asian people live.  This is foreign missions … right next door!  Jegar will be preaching on “The Glory of Missions” from Micah 4:1-5.  We usually think about missions as something that’s done far, far away, but in reality (and particularly in this area), missions is often something that’s done nearby and down the street.

As King’s Cross in Ashburn becomes more self-supporting, we’re moving our funding to the First Asian Indian Presbyterian Church in Herndon over the next few years.  I’m excited to introduce Jegar and this new church plant to you, as well as hearing what he has for us from God’s Word this Sunday morning.  See you there!  Dr. Dave

P.S. We had a meeting of Potomac Presbytery this week (that’s the group of PCA churches in the metro DC area) and it was exciting to receive five new men into the presbytery.  Two of the guys were students of mine at RTS, so it’s always gratifying to see them beginning in ministry.  Two African-American guys came under care, including Andrew Russell from Nassau, the Bahamas.  Some of you may have met him on one of our mission trips there.  Additionally, we approved an African guy (who is originally from Liberia) for ordination in March.  He’s been working and studying here for about 15 years and upon ordination, he’ll be planting a church in Waldorf, MD.  Good things are happening in our presbytery.
