This Sunday's Worship Materials can be found in the "Featured Sermon" below. We meet in person at Harper Park Middle School, and the service is also livestreamed on our YouTube channel.

Heart Prep for Sunday, February 12th

Another week, another sermon.  Another week, another cycle of waking, working, eating, and sleeping.  It’s all pretty repetitive, and I’m going to bet that our sermons in Job will end up sounding repetitive.  And that’s somewhat by design.  The writer of Job understands that both Job and readers of this book (That’s us!) are dense of heart.  We need to hear the same stuff over and over again because we can’t seem to get it to stick.  And so this Sunday, we’ve got Job 2.  It might feel a little like déjà vu because it’s time to pile on Job some more, this time, his health, reputation, and social standing are in the crosshairs.  It’ll also feel like déjà vu because Job 2 preaches about the same way as Job 1 does.  There is a lot of overlap with what Dr. Dave said last week.  But this week, we’re going to do our best to do a deep dive into each of the main characters, to examine the motivations driving God, Satan, and Job.  As we look at them in turn, we’re hopefully going to make some headway with the question of “Why?”, which is one of the biggest questions that we have when we suffer.

And lest you think that you can skip the sermon this week because there is so much overlap with last week, Dr. Dave and I are vastly different, and so we’ll cover much of the same ground, but in wildly different ways.  So come Sunday ready to take a fresh look at Job, Satan, and God.  Hopefully we will be drawn to the Gospel and to Jesus in new ways.  See you Sunday!
