Have you ever been accused of something you didn't do?  Sooner or later, most of us have to endure such an accusation … and it can really hurt.  It can also make us angry, bitter, resentful, and scared.  You try to explain, and the other person doesn't seem to care.  Why?  Usually because they’re angry, bitter, resentful, and scared too (although sometimes they’re just mean, but that’s not nearly as common as we think it is).  So … what do you do?

Well, we'll get some guidance on the matter this week when we look at two chapters in Jeremiah (37-38) which have two different, but related, accusations made against Jeremiah, both of which just blindside the Prophet.  And yes, God gets him out of it, but apparently that doesn't always lessen the emotional damage.

Fear is one of the most powerful emotions we experience.  Often it results from physical and/or emotional suffering.  Both of these are part of Jeremiah’s experience in these chapters.  And both of these have been, or will be, part of our experience as well.  So we would be wise to learn as much as we can from this passage.  And since I’m guessing that you need to learn this as much as I do, you'll want to be there on Sunday.  You might find it valuable.  See you then, Dr. Dave
