O Love That Will Not Let Me Go (Jeremiah 31:2-30)

April 28, 2019 Speaker: Rev. Dave Dorst Series: Jeremiah - Faithful Living in a Fallen World

Topic: Sermons Passage: Jeremiah 31:2–30

I hope you had a wonderful holy week and Easter Sunday!  We enjoyed the Good Friday service with Ketoctin Covenant OPC (the transcript from the sermon is on our website), the Sunrise Service (thanks to Tom Gardner, Frank Pugh, and Jon Thompson for speaking), and our main Easter service.

Thank you also to Ken & Christian Colley and my daughters for passing out flyers all over the Potomac Station neighborhood inviting people to Easter services.  Perhaps one or two couples/families came, but be praying that other families will visit in the future and that we can be reaching out to that neighborhood.  Pray also for the Community Health Fair this Saturday; a few of us will be sitting at a table with a sign that says, "How's Your Spiritual Health?" hoping to engage people in conversation (or at least give them a book or a Bible).

This week's sermon passage is the first 30 verses of Jeremiah 31.  David Gosdeck comments that, "few chapters in all of Scripture are as rich in promise as this one."  All of the terrible things that have happened to Israel, as God allowed their enemies to conquer them, will be lifted and reversed.  It's all about renewal, restoration, and return, and it's a beautiful vision that gave the people hope.  You and I need hope for the future as well, let's dig into the passage together Sunday.  See you then, -Dave
