We're now well into the Advent season. This Sunday will be the 3rd Sunday of Advent, and our reading for the day is The Story of the Angels from Luke 2. And it's a wonderful story, and you probably know it well. If not from the Scriptures, then from "A Charlie Brown Christmas" where Linus gives his famous "The True Meaning of Christmas" speech. If I knew how to embed it into this email I would, but I don't, so I'm just going to post it to our Facebook group. I'll watch it a bunch of times because it always makes me smile.
Well, I won't be giving the Linus speech this Sunday, but I will be talking about the true meaning of Christmas. We'll be looking at how people responded to this news of Jesus being the light of the world, to lead people out of the darkness of sin and sorrow. We'll be reading John 1:9-13 and talking about how Jesus comes to us, what that should mean to us, and how should we respond. Because, after all, waiting for the coming of Christ is what Advent is all about. So, let's wait expectantly. See you Sunday, Dr. Dave
P.S. I hope you enjoyed the great Fellowship Lunch last Sunday. Thanks to Katherine Culver for pulling it all together.
And this Sunday we have the privilege of listening to our Adult Christmas Choir, and the greater privilege of hearing the Children's Christmas Choir as well. The kids will go first, so you don't want to be late!
