Larry Norman was the original Christian rocker in the 1970s. He had a lot of great songs like “Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music” and “The Outlaw.” One of his songs was called “Righteous Rocker” and was a paraphrase of Corinthians 13:1-3: "You can be a righteous rocker or a holy roller, you can be most anything, you can be a Leon Russell or a super muscle, you can be a corporate king, you can be a wealthy man from Texas or a witch with heavy hexes, but without love, you ain’t nothing!" I’m not sure how much the Apostle Paul would have loved his slangy paraphrase, but it certainly captured the essence of Paul’s argument that we can reach the heights of spiritual accomplishments, but if we’re void of love, we gain nothing. That is a convicting reminder as we grow and live out our faith.
