The Promise of the Lord (Exodus 6:2-27)

November 8, 2015 Speaker: Dr. David Silvernail Series: Exodus - The Glory of the Lord

Topic: Sermons Passage: Exodus 6:2–27

Well, this week we come to another one of those strange Bible passages where it’s hard to figure out what’s going on (It does seem like there’s a lot of those in Exodus, doesn’t it?). This passage, Exodus 6:2-27, begins with God’s Word telling us how to respond to difficulty, to hardship, to living with uncertainty, discouragement, and fear. Life is tough for God’s people and they’re demanding answers. And so God gives them answers. But they’re not the answers the people are looking for. They’re not even the answers to the questions they’re asking. Which means that perhaps the people are asking the wrong questions?

But God, in His grace, gives them the answers to the right questions, the questions they should have been asking. And in so doing, we discover that this passage tells us quite a bit about who God is, what God says, and how God acts. Then it wraps up with one of those “fascinating” genealogy passages that actually has a lot to say. And in the end it’s all pointing us to Jesus and the Gospel. Should be fun. Come Sunday and see for yourself. I’m looking forward to it! Dr. Dave

Don’t forget to pray for all the ladies on the Women’s Retreat this weekend! I’m sure they will appreciate it!
