Have you signed up for a Community Group yet? Since the Groups were a big hit in the Spring, we’re looking forward to starting them again for this school year. There are 7 groups – 2 in Eastern Loudoun, 4 in Leesburg, and 1 in Western Loudoun; and we can start more if we need to. So sign up through the City for the one closest to you, or one that meets on a night that is best for you!
This Sunday’s sermon will be on a group of Proverbs that talk about families, mostly about parent-child relationships. In 15 years of youth ministry, I saw all kinds of families and all kinds of problems between students and their parents. Proverbs doesn’t give us easy answers to solve those problems, but it does give us timeless truth. We’ve been looking at how Proverbs make us wise, but it also reminds us that parents have a very important goal of instilling wisdom in their children.
Of course, I may get back from a week of family vacation and totally change my outline. And me preaching on parenting can blow up in my face in a few years if my kids grow up and have major problems. But that’s why I preach the Scripture’s words, not my own ideas and experiences. Our perfect Heavenly Father loves our children more than we ever could! See you Sunday, Dave Dorst
