I hope that your holy week and Easter Sunday were wonderful celebrations of Christ’s death and resurrection, as well as what the Lord is doing in your life, your family, and in our church. The Good Friday service with Ketoctin Covenant OPC was deeply meaningful, and a great reminder of Jesus’ obedience despite the pain of the crucifixion and the cowardice of His followers. Also deeply meaningful was this past Saturday when many families joined together to sing Easter songs and read Scripture passages about the resurrection with the residents of Heritage Hall. And finally, hearing how Christ as our Mediator and High Priest was confirmed in His death and resurrection at our Easter service helped us worship our risen Savior together.
This week’s sermon passage is the first 12 verses of Hebrews chapter 9. Most of it is a description of the furniture and the layout of the tabernacle that the priests used in Moses’ day, which seems like odd, irrelevant information to the Christian believer. But as we grasp the symbolism of the pieces and understand the restrictions that God placed on the worship in the old covenant, we’ll understand much better how blessed we are to be given full access to God’s presence through Christ in the new covenant. I look forward to worshipping with you Sunday. Don’t forget to pray for Jeff Lee, Andrew & Ashley Lastova, and the high school students who will be at the PCA’s MODGNIK Retreat this weekend. -Dave
