Well, we have a full plate this week! First we look at three parables, then a word about bringing out both old and new treasures, and finally we learn how Jesus is rejected by his hometown of Nazareth. So much Word of God... so little time!
Yet what seems like a hodgepodge of biblical nuggets actually has a central theme running through it all: The Worth of the Kingdom. First we see that the Kingdom is worth giving up everything for. Then we see how on the Last Day, people will be divided by whether they recognize the worth of the Kingdom or not. Then we're charged with sharing with others about the worth of the Kingdom. Finally, we see that despite the worth of the Kingdom, people will still reject us because of it.
All of these things encourage us to ask ourselves some questions. If we're not Christians: Do we recognize the supreme worth of the Kingdom... and are we willing to "sell all" to possess it? If we're already believers: Are we still willing to give up everything for the Kingdom... or has our Kingdom treasure lost some of its shine over the years?
Come Sunday morning to hear more about the worth of the Kingdom and about our treasure of King Jesus. After all, you can't have one without the other... they're a package deal!
See you then! - Pastor Tom
