The Hope of the Kingdom (Matthew 9:18-26)
Speaker: Rev. Tom Rubino Series: The King and His Kingdom! - A Series in the Book of Matthew Topic: 1 Passage: Matthew 9:18–9:26
Do you see your desperate need of Jesus? This is a relevant question for both someone who is not a Christian, as well as for those who are. None of us ever stop desperately needing Jesus.
I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but it's hard for me to admit my desperate need of Him. Maybe I'm a product of my culture, which mocks weakness and exploits it. Maybe I'm too proud. Maybe I'm too afraid of what other people will think if I confess how desperate I really need Jesus. I'm sure it's a combination of these things and a whole lot more!
Whatever the case, our passage this weeks has something to say to all of us. In it, we encounter two desperate people... A ruler who has lost his only daughter and a woman with chronic bleeding that has lasted for twelve years and counting! All out of options, they come to Jesus and we see how Jesus is both willing and able to help them.
Not only does Jesus' response to them motivate us to come to Him ourselves, but we also get a magnificent glimpse of the future hope we have in the consummation of His coming Kingdom.
Look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning!
