The Power of the King (Matthew 8:23-27)
Series: The King and His Kingdom! - A Series in the Book of Matthew Topic: Sermons Passage: Matthew 8:23–8:27
This week we're looking at one of the most well-known stories about Jesus -- calming the storm in Matthew 8. But a couple of odd things stand out. First of all, we know that at least four of the disciples were fishermen, so why would they ask a carpenter to help them? And second, Matthew says that the disciples marveled, Mark indicates that they were filled with fear, and Luke combines the two. Why is it that this incident makes a deeper impression on the disciples than anything they've seen so far? Maybe their faith was being tested by their fear! We'll take a look at how faith and fear relate to each other.
And so, as we approach this passage, once again, we have to ask the questions, "What does this teach us about faith?" and "What does this teach us about Jesus?" Come Sunday to find out more. See you then, Dr. Dave
