After Abram's initial faithfulness to God's call on his life, he is forced to Egypt during a famine. His faith falters and he forces his wife to pretend that she is only his sister, which results in her being taken into Pharaoh's harem. God intervenes and clears the obstacles to his covenant promises of descendants for Abram and Sarai, but we see that Abram is not as faithful and trusting of God as he had shown before. We often live out the NT phrase "Lord, I believe, help my unbelief" just like Abram. We may have a solid saving faith in God, but our actions betray the fact that we don't really believe His promises and His power.
