The 2nd song of Christmas recorded in the Gospel is Luke is from Zechariah, who had been struck mute by an angel for his disbelief at the announcement of his wife's pregnancy. His tongue was loosened after the boy's birth when he insisted that the name was to be John, as the angel had directed. Then he sang a song that praised God's redemptive work to Israel as well as celebrating both John's and Jesus' upcoming ministries.
