Meet the Staff

Dr. David V. Silvernail, Jr. is the senior pastor of Potomac Hills. He writes: "I've been married to Joanne for some 29 years now. We have five truly amazing children; David (and his wife, Rachel), Rebecca Karos (and her husband John), Sarah Surface (and her husband Andy), Daniel (attending James Madison University), and Samuel (attending Hampden-Sydney College). We also have a faithful dog Cincinnati (a big Yellow lab). David and Rachel have three sons, and Joanne and I love being grandparents!"
The Silvernails moved to Virginia in 1997 and settled in Leesburg. Prior to coming to Potomac Hills, Dave was the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, PCA, of Enterprise, Alabama.
Dave earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis (May, 2006). His doctoral dissertation was entitled, “The Preaching Practices of Evangelical Pastors in the Newer Churches of Loudoun County, Virginia.” (Click the title to download a 30 page summary) Dave received his Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and his bachelor’s degree from American University, Washington, DC.
Dave has not always been a pastor. Before entering graduate school, he served as an infantry officer in the United States Army, first on active duty and then in the Army Reserve. Dave has brought his gift of relevant, grace-filled, in-depth preaching to Potomac Hills, along with a love for worship and missions. He is also a huge baseball fan.

Dave Dorst is our associate pastor, with oversight of youth, music, children's, men's and women's ministries. He has been in full-time youth ministry since 1996, and a worship pastor since 1998. Dave and his wife Kathy both graduated from Baylor University in 1995 and were married in November 1996, eventually moving to Leesburg to work at Potomac Hills in February of 2002. Dave is from Pennsylvania (huge Steeler fan) and Kathy is from New Hampshire, but they are happy to call Northern Virginia home.
Kathy is a stay-at-home mom and keeps busy with Miles, Wesley, Alayna, and Natalie. Dave loves music, sports, reading and travel. He received his Master’s degree from Reformed Theological Seminary (DC campus) in June 2009, and was ordained and licensed in the PCA in November 2010.

Tom Rubino is our Assistant to the Pastor as of January 2012. Tom originally hails from Long Island, New York and lived most recently in Birmingham, Alabama. After graduating from Wake Forest University (Business Administration) in 1992, Tom spent a considerable amount of time in the business world before pursuing a call to vocational ministry. Tom studied at Covenant Seminary in St. Louis and graduated from there in 2010, with both the Masters of Divinity and Master of Arts in Counseling degrees. He and his wife, Christine, have been married since 2007 and welcomed their first child, Bella Grace, in March of 2011.

Jeff Lee is our pastoral intern, and is currently finishing seminary at RTS Washington DC. Before joining our staff, he spent two years as an intern at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia. He graduated from Stone Bridge High school in 2004 and Christopher Newport University in 2008, with a Bachelors degree in Business Management. Jeff is a local, born and raised in Leesburg, Virginia.
Jeff is a huge Redskins fan and loves many sports. He played baseball, basketball, and football at Stone Bridge High School and in his spare time, enjoys skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, and music. He hopes to finish his Masters of Divinity in a year at Reformed Theological Seminary. He recently proposed to his girlfriend, Alisha Brandt, and they are planning to get married in July 2012.
