The school year is past the quarter mark, the NFL season is over halfway done, and we are a week away from Thanksgiving, but the main scheduling note is that we are finishing the book of Ephesians this Sunday! It’s been a great 12 weeks and I hope that you’ve learned and grown from studying this amazing book. Did any of you keep Dr. Dave’s challenge to read through the whole book every week? (I didn’t and I don’t have any excuse)
There’s always a scene in a good movie about knights in medieval England where the hero straps on his armor and gets ready to ride out into battle. That’s the word picture we get in Ephesians 6 as we’re urged to put on the armor of God. But if Jesus has already won the victory for us and we’re already seated in the heavenly places with Him, why do we need armor for battle? And how exactly do you wield the sword of the Spirit? And who’s Tychicus? So many questions, let’s dive into the text together Sunday.
Reminder: Please, please, if you could sit down with your family/spouse/laptop in the next couple days to write and email me a one-page Advent devotional that will be included in the church’s Advent devotional booklet, I’d be grateful. Have a great weekend, see you Sunday.
