By Faith, They Hid (Exodus 1:15-2:10)

September 13, 2015 Speaker: Dr. David Silvernail Series: Exodus - The Glory of the Lord

Topic: Sermons Passage: Exodus 1:15– 2:10

Well, this week we’re continuing our new series on the Book of Exodus which I’ve called “The Glory of the Lord.” This Sunday we hit a difficult and disturbing passage, Exodus 1:15-2:10, which deals with a number of faithful women who have to deal with a very unfaithful culture, an unfaithful power, and an unfaithful system. We’ll cheer the women, be heartbroken by the system, and yet be surprised by God who works out His plan through it all.

In his book on Exodus, Anthony Selvaggio writes, "Although few of us have ever faced the type of persecution that the Israelites faced in Egypt, sometimes we do find ourselves in difficult and challenging circumstances which lead us to ask the questions, “Where are you, God?” and “Why is this happening to me?” As believers in Christ, we assent to the truth of Romans 8:28, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” And that’s not hard to do when things are going our way. When hard providences crash upon the shores of our lives in seemingly relentless waves, the truth of Romans 8:28 is easy to question and doubt." And yet, “it is often when things seem most perilous that God works most powerfully.” And we’ll see that this Sunday. It should be interesting – I will keep praying that God uses this journey through Exodus in each of your lives! See you Sunday, Dr. Dave

Don’t forget to pray this weekend for our eight Middle School students (and five leaders) who have gone to the PCA Modgnik retreat. Pray for great times of worship, learning, and fellowship for them!
