Even as God punishes the serpent, Eve and Adam for their sin, there is grace hidden in His judgments. The woman's punishment is pain in childbearing and conflict in her relationship with her husband. The man's punishment is toil and pain in his work. (This sermon does not spend much time on the curse of the serpent, because next week's sermon will focus entirely on Gen. 3:15.) But God covered Adam and Eve with garments of animal skin, and weaves life, hope and offspring in His pronouncements.
